My Story

The story that follows is what happened when I found some child pornography and attempted to report it.  Names and addresses have been deleted but the links to my written intercourse with the U.S. Customs service are verbatim otherwise. 

One night I was running a download agent against the newsgroups.  Its a program that lets you select various news groups and just sit back while the computer irritates your Internet Service Provider (ISP).  I'm not usually real selective and just choose 8 or 9 groups.  Some artwork I use on web pages I design.  Some like Hubbell telescope pictures I keep and spread around desktops.  Yes until that night I even had a whole disk filled with what I called pornography of the weird.  After that night I burned the porno disk.

It's imperative that we keep a free uncensored internet but somebody should have broken a law taking those pictures.  That same somebody should be held accountable for distributing it, whether by the internet or passing it around to their pervert friends.  I don't think they should be busted for sending it over the net. They should be busted for having it.   This is not what the founding fathers meant by freedom of speech and this is not art.

It took over an hour to find whom the correct agency was to report this to.  My first thought was the FCC then the FBI but I couldn't even find a reporting place for any of them.  Finally I did a search on kiddie porn and found that the U.S. Customs office is the correct agency.  I called them to report it, but I didn't think the agent I spoke to had any enthusiasm about his job so I went to the online site and reported it (My E-Mail to Customs).  Two days later I received an acknowledgement in my email thanking me for my tip and explaining what our government views as child pornography (Customs response).  I replied pleading that they weren't telling me this crap I found was alright by the government I spent a career in the military to protect.   Our government has an even weaker description than Bill Clinton explaining that oral sex is not sex.  To date I have not received a response to my request from them.   I just wanted them to tell me that what I found was illegal.

My next thought since the government won't do anything to these deviants was to hunt down some of their sites and spam them or post their addresses and have everyone spam them.  I have been to many porno sites but I use an age verification service.  I didn't realize how insulated I had become.   In about an hour I found over 40 different sites that had this stuff on them.   Some even bragged that they weren't breaking the law because no "sexually explicit" acts were depicted.  Discovering that my head had been in the sand so far, I reasoned that other people may also have my affliction.  I threw out the spam idea.  The best thing I could come up with was creating this web site.
